Bio:
Alain Bergel became chemical engineer in 1982 and has been researcher at the CNRS since 1986. His research areas first focused on the electrochemistry of enzymes for the design of biosensors and bioreactors. He then applied the skills acquired on protein electrochemistry to the study of microbial corrosion and has been one of the European pioneers in the application of electroactive biofilms to develop microbial electrochemical technologies. He has co-authored more than 130 articles in peer-reviewed journals and 14 patents, 10 of which relating to microbial electrochemical technologies.
